	<title>Lighthouse</title>

	<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://features.cgsociety.org/gallerycrits/3127/3127_1191480091_small.jpg"><br><br>A personal project to quickly (I think I did it in one day) create a recreation of a lighthouse here in Australia. It was rendered in Maxwell Render however I also rendered some different passes in Mental Ray and applied quite a lot of post in Fusion 5.<br />

The trees... yeah not so good. Haha! I just used Paint Effects and Maxwell was disagreeing with the texturing.]]>

	<title>Maya Candles with SSS</title>

	<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://features.cgsociety.org/gallerycrits/3127/3127_1191478070_small.jpg"><br><br>I was writing part of a collaborative review on Maya 8  (my area was the new rendering related features) for Highend3D including a little video tutorial etc but the collaboration sorta fell apart. This was just one of the renders from it. Rendered using Mental Ray in Maya 8 with the new SSS parametres that were added to the standard Maya shaders.<br />

	<title>Christmas Ornaments</title>

It had just been Christmas and we have lots of little wooden ornaments, so I made a couple of them in Maya. There's a bit of a weird speckle problem on the left one's 'neck' area, which was a bug with bump mapping at the time. Some people have told me it's cute enough to put in my gallery so, here it is!]]>

	<title>Bokeh Buddhas</title>

	<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://features.cgsociety.org/gallerycrits/3127/3127_1150788373_small.jpg"><br><br>The goal of this image was to try and create a nice bokeh effect (the starry out of focus highlights). I think it turned out pretty nicely. It was made entirely using Maxwell Studio and then obviously rendered with Maxwell. The Buddha statues are a 3D scanned object created by Stanford University's computer graphics lab.<br />

	<title>Ant Character - Semi Realistic</title>

It had to be reasonably realistic, and this was my first example of what I could offer. The geometry is much too simple but the shading of it matched very closely to the reference photos. The carpet is CG also by the way. Unfortunately someone else got the job! Someone from a studio no-one's ever heard of...what was it...oh Animal Logic. Hehe.<br />

	<title>Chicken Composite</title>

I'm looking for comments/critiquing on these two finished CG/photo composites. We have three of these cool chicken statuette things and I wanted to have a go at adding a fourth chicken. In both the photos the chicken on the far left was created in Maya 7 and remdered in Mental Ray. Texturing in Photoshop. I didn't use HDRI, just direct lighting and some Final Gather. They're straight renders too, on top of image planes. I thought if people felt I could do it convincingly enough I might do an animation of 'alive' chicken statues with a moving camera etc. Here's a wire image (haha, not very exciting though):<br />

	<title>Gelato Pro example</title>

	<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://features.cgsociety.org/gallerycrits/3127/3127_1160359879_small.jpg"><br><br>This image was rendered with NVIDIA's Gelato Pro GPU assisted renderer and was used for display at their Siggraph booth earlier this year. I created an earlier version of this image to test out the abilities of Gelato, then 'upgraded&quot; it to this image for them at their request. The image I submitted to them was at 1920x1200 resolution and it rendered in about 12 minutes! Which is pretty good for an image combining GI, DoF, micropoly displacement etc.]]>
